Sunday School, Student Movement, Youth Association and Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam are some of the existing spiritual groups of the MSOC UK council. These spiritual associations cover wide range of age groups; they assists, organise and provide variety of activities for all parishes. Each association has it's own team of committee they elect internally, headed by the Patriarchal Vicar, along with a Vice President elected from the MSOC-UK council. Term duration for all the positions are fixed two years.

Acolyte and prayer fellowship are two new spiritual organisations that has been established under the leadership of H.G. Mathews Mor Anthimos recently. The details are to be updated.

Malankara Jacobite Syrian Sunday School Association

MJSSA - UK

MJSSA UK is a spiritual organisation of Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church UK which brings together the Sunday School students of all parishes of MSOC UK. MJSSA UK aims to teach the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the holy Bible, the holy Sacraments, and the tradition of the Malankara Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church. MJSSA UK puts together an appropriate curriculum/syllabus and provides Sunday School textbooks for the UK Sunday Schools.

JSOSM - UK

The Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Student Movement (JSOSM) is a youth group based in the United Kingdom for youth between the ages of 12 and 23 years .It is set up under the holy apostolic see of Antioch and all the East. The president is the patriarchal vicar of the UK. In bringing together students of our church under this umbrella, the movement aims to foster and build relationships between each other in a christian environment. It seeks to give direction and enable the development of personal skills, attitudes and aspirations. Annual events provide a sense of communal be- longing and the recognition of our cultural heritage.

JSOYA - UK

The Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Youth Association, UK (JSOYA UK) is a Spiritual Organisation for the youth wing of the MSOC UK. Young people are so close to the heart of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to Solomon’s Proverbs, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”. As we are all aware, to ensure that our Jacobite Syrian Orthodox faith, traditions, liturgy, and theology is upheld through the coming generation, primarily when situated in modern western societies, we have to put in tremendous efforts to understand and get to know the issues facing the youth today.

The centralised Marth Mariam Vanitha Samajam (MMVS) in the UK diocese is commenced in the year 2021 under the spiritual guidance of the Diocese Metropolitan HG Dr Mathews Mor Anthimos. MMVS is the womens's wing and It is one of the prominent spiritual organisation of the holy congregation in uk Dioceses.

MJSSA

MJSSA UK is a spiritual organisation of Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church UK which brings together the Sunday School students of all parishes of MSOC-UK. MJSSA UK aims to teach the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the holy Bible, the holy Sacraments, and the tradition of the Malankara Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church. MJSSA UK puts together an appropriate curriculum/syllabus and provides Sunday School textbooks for the UK Sunday Schools.

  • MJSSA UK organizes Kalolsavams,  in UK to promote our faith and religion. There is an overwhelming participation from students across UK in the Kalolsavam events, which has competitions for Elocution, Devotional Songs, Liturgical Hymns and Bible Verses test.
  • MJSSA UK organises an annual Inter-Sunday School Bible Quiz Competition in memory of the Late Rev. Fr. Dr. Biji Markose Chirathilattu. Enthusiastic participation from many JSO Churches in UK has been seen in the Inter-Sunday School Bible Quiz Competition.
  • MJSSA UK also holds an annual Essay Competition in memory of Late Rev. Fr. Dr. Biji Markose. There was very enthusiastic participation in the Essay Competition from UK students.
  • MJSSA UK provides Teacher’s Training to the Sunday School Teachers in the UK to help improve the ability of teachers to teach the message of the Holy Bible, our faith, and our Church History in a relevant and interesting manner.
  • Vacation Bible Schools (VBS) is organized to educate children about religion, faith and God through fun, age-appropriate activities. VBS is a specialized form of religious education that focuses on the children in the Church and provides a wonderful opportunity for kids to socialize and learn more about religion in a relaxed setting. Many children attend VBS classes in the Sunday Schools across UK, and MJSSA Central committee members help out in VBS by delivering lessons to promote faith and liturgy.
  • MJSSA UK also organises Nuhro – The Faith Talks, which are interactive Webinars on JSO Faith, Liturgy, Life and Evangelism.

MJSSA UK operates with committees at the Central Level and at five Zonal Levels in UK. The Director for MJSSA UK is appointed by H.G. Dr. Matthews Mor Anthimos, Metropolitan. General Body Meeting of all UK Sunday School representatives elects some of the MJSSA UK Committee Members.

As we are all aware, to ensure that our Jacobite Syrian Orthodox faith, traditions, liturgy, and theology is upheld through the coming generation, primarily when situated in modern western societies, we have to put in tremendous efforts to understand and get to know the issues facing the youth today. JSOYA UK actively addresses the issues and problems of the youth today concerning our faith; through the inclusion of their thoughts and ideas, we can grasp the next generation’s relationship with their faith. Being inclusive of their views and opinion is the cornerstone of the association.
It is the duty and responsibility of the youth to get involved in JSOYA UK and its future activities.

The general body of MSOC UK elected Rev. Fr Jebin Ipe as the Vice President of JSOYA UK to organise and lead the activities under UK Diocese As per Bull – No. UK- 16/21 of The Patriarchal Vicar of UK His Grace Dr Mor Anthimos Matthews  a formal meeting was held on 31st of October 2021 and established the following central committee:

Present and Future Prospects of the Vanitha Samajam:

  • Prepares women for theological training.
  • Train women for social awareness and decision making at all levels.
  • Attempts to explore the potential of women to some extent.
  • We train women to conduct prayer groups, lead prayer, Bible classes, and fellowship meetings, and preach the gospel.
  • Seek solidarity with women's action groups at the local and national levels. Encourage greater participation in ecumenical gatherings.
  • To promote spiritual practices such as Lent, other religious practices, and child rearing.
  • Every effort is being made to find more Sunday school teachers who are committed to Christ.

Spiritual activities:

  • One day seminar: The First one day seminar is held in June 2021 in online, hosted by MMVS, UK dioceses, participated by all Samajam members in UK. More than 250 Samajam members participated in the seminar.
  • Zonal Meeting: Zonal meetings are held in different zones lead by samajam Vice President Rev. Fr. Aneesh Kavalayil. The zones are Central, South West, Midland, North East and Scotland & Northern Ireland. The meetings are arranged by MMVS, Zonal coordinators and church unit secretaries were also present in the meeting. MMVS implemented unique structure and prayer format for all parish samajam groups across UK.
  • Online prayer: All MMVS prayers. and meetings are conducted virtually due to the current pandemic situation. Online prayer meetings organised by each zonal coordinators. First online prayer started in September 2021 and continued every First Wednesday of each month at 6 pm.
  • Special Prayer request: When MMVS receives any special urgent prayer request from any samajam members, that information forward to all church samajam unit secretaries in UK ,to share that prayer request with samajam members.
  • Charity: MMVS Committee raise Charity money once in a year to help the financially poor people.
